# Particle class

Namespace: [Rhino.Geometry](https://developer.rhino3d.com/api/rhinocommon/namespace/rhino.geometry.md) · Assembly: [RhinoCommon](https://developer.rhino3d.com/api/rhinocommon/assembly/rhinocommon.md)

```cs
public class Particle
```

Represents a simple particle.

This base class only defines position and display properties (size, color, bitmap id). You will most likely create a class that derives from this particle class to perform some sort of physical simulation (movement over time or frames).

## Constructors

- [Particle](https://developer.rhino3d.com/api/rhinocommon/type/rhino.geometry.particle/ctor.md): Initializes a new instance of the [Particle](https://developer.rhino3d.com/api/rhinocommon/type/rhino.geometry.particle.md) class.

## Properties

- [Color](https://developer.rhino3d.com/api/rhinocommon/type/rhino.geometry.particle/color.md)
- [DisplayBitmapIndex](https://developer.rhino3d.com/api/rhinocommon/type/rhino.geometry.particle/displaybitmapindex.md)
- [Index](https://developer.rhino3d.com/api/rhinocommon/type/rhino.geometry.particle/index.md): Index in ParentSystem for this Particle. Can change when the particle system is modified.
- [Location](https://developer.rhino3d.com/api/rhinocommon/type/rhino.geometry.particle/location.md): 3d Location of the Particle.
- [ParentSystem](https://developer.rhino3d.com/api/rhinocommon/type/rhino.geometry.particle/parentsystem.md): Gets the parent particle system of this particle.
- [Size](https://developer.rhino3d.com/api/rhinocommon/type/rhino.geometry.particle/size.md)

## Methods

- [Update](https://developer.rhino3d.com/api/rhinocommon/type/rhino.geometry.particle/update.md): Base class implementation does nothing.
