Maths.ColourMetric
ReferencesEnumerates the defined colour difference metrics used in the Maths.Distance(Maths.ColourMetric, Color, Color)> like functions.
Enum values
| Name | Value | Description |
|---|---|---|
| RgbLinear | 0 | Euclidean distance in the linear-RGB unit cube. This is a terrible difference metric which does not follow human perceptual curves. |
| RgbStandard | 1 | Euclidean distance in the gamma adjusted sRGB unit cube. This is a terrible difference metric which does not follow human perceptual curves. |
| HsvNormalised | 2 | Linear distance in the normalised HSV cylinder. This is a poor difference metric which massively exaggerates the difference between dark colours. |
| HslNormalised | 3 | Linear distance in the normalised HSL cylinder. This is a poor difference metric which massively exaggerates differences in the vicinity of black. Colours with medium and high luminance fair better. |
| HspNormalised | 4 | Linear distance in the normalised HSP* cylinder. This is a slight improvement over the Hsl metric in that luminance differences closely track perceived differences. |
| Sinusoidal | 5 | Linear distance in the HSP* sinusoidal model. A decent metric which is nevertheless reasonably fast. The maximum difference between two colours (such as black and white) is 2.0 in this metric. |
| CieDeltaE2000 | 6 | The CIE ĪEāā standard. A very high quality metric, but slow to compute. Value less than 0.5 are not visible to the human eye. Value between 0.5 and 1.0 are visible under close scrutiny. Value between 1.0 and 50.0 are measured between colours which are more similar than different and values higher than 50.0 indicate colours which are more different than similar. The highest possible difference value is 100. |
